As the representative body for Northern Ireland’s registered housing associations, NIFHA works for our members to:
- showcase the role of quality social homes
- campaign to policymakers on areas that challenge the sustainability and vibrancy of the housing association sector
- encourage collaboration and the sharing of best practice across the sector and
- engage with stakeholders to provide thought leadership and horizon scanning on key issues affecting the sector and our members.

The 2018-21 Strategic Plan identifies four Strategic Themes under which twelve supporting objectives have been identified for delivery in 2019-20:
1 Enable the delivery of Great Homes and Thriving Communities
- Increase engagement with local councils on planning and other issues
- Seek the best possible public-sector conditions for development programme
- Highlight the importance of community investment and the role of housing associations in creating vibrant communities, including Benefits to Society NI campaign
- Support and advocate for the reclassification of housing associations

- Ensure that housing associations and their partner organisations can continue to deliver high-quality housing as well as care and support for vulnerable people
