Triangle named Best Housing Association at Social Enterprise Awards

Congratulations and well done to Triangle Housing Association on being named Best Housing Association at the UCIT Social Enterprise NI Awards.

UTV’s Paul Clark presented the awards at a gala ceremony at the Stormont Hotel on Friday, 27th October. The awards celebrate excellence in social enterprise and the outstanding achievements of social entrepreneurs to deliver social impact.

Triangle was recognised for the tremendous contribution the association makes to  their local community and to the social enterprise sector in general.

A spokesperson for Triangle said everyone there is delighted at the honour. She added, “This award reflects not only Triangle’s traditional social enterprise achievements over many years , supporting more than 1,000 adults with a learning disability into employment, but also our more recent innovations in Social Enterprise.

“Triangle introduced Participatory Budgeting to Northern Ireland in 2016,  and has now successfully delivered this approach to community empowerment and decision making for the past two years.  Triangle are currently working with local community and government organisations who are keen to learn from our experiences and  to try Participatory Budgeting for themselves.”

Colin Jess, Director of Social Enterprise NI said, “We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this years awards, with 300 guests attending, made up of social enterprises themselves, and also a large number of interested parties and stakeholders from the private, public and educational sectors along with a number of MLA’s.

“It is great to see the passion, energy and enthusiasm within the room. More and more public and private sector organisations are keen, and willing, to understand the social enterprise business model. We look forward to increasingly working with all sectors and political parties to continue this momentum and to position the social enterprise sector as a strong contributor to the mainstream NI economy.”
