Award win for Clanmil Housing’s Procurement Team

The GO Awards were the climax to Ireland’s Festival of Procurement and recognise and reward excellence and achievement in commissioning, procurement and public service delivery. Winners of the coveted Go Awards were announced at a Gala Reception at the RDS in Dublin.
Over the last 18 months Clanmil Housing has adopted an enhanced approach to the delivery of social value in its procurement competitions for the construction and maintenance of social housing. All procurement contracts now include social clauses which aim to deliver real opportunities for the long term unemployed and support the development of the communities where Clanmil work.
Kevin Logan, Clanmil Housing’s Procurement Manager accepted the award on Clanmil’s behalf. He said;
“We are very proud to have picked up the Sustainable Procurement award at this year’s GO Awards . Over the past 18 months we have worked hard to ensure that our procurement contracts really deliver on social value.
“Traditionally social value in our contracts related to government initiatives and the inclusion of mandatory employment clauses. While this can deliver real opportunities, we wanted to go further. We feel that a true social clause can be used to support the development of a community alongside new homes.
“The benefit of our new approach is a commitment from Clanmil and our contractors to the sustainability of communities and to the people who live in our homes. Our intention is to deliver great homes with high design and build standards alongside community funding, community events, community training opportunities and access to employment. In this way we are achieving real social return for every pound we spend.”
