CRISPP Annual Meeting

2nd Annual Meeting - 9 April 2008

"The Changing Context of Supported Housing Regulation"
Following on 2007's hugely successful event this year’s theme was the changing face of regulation in the context of supported housing.  It was a interesting and challenging event which helped to clarify the links and differences between all the regulatory regimes.

Representatives from voluntary and statutory organisations attended and a variety of interesting presentations were made. They included:

NI Housing Executive (Powerpoint 117KB)

Access NI (Powerpoint 436KB)

Northern Ireland Social Care Council (Powerpoint 1777KB)

Regulation in the Context of Supported Housing (Powerpoint 210KB)

Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups (SVG) Scheme for Northern Ireland (Powerpoint 141KB)

The presentations prompt much to talk about and work on. The representatives from SVG produced an additional fact sheet which can be downloaded as a WORD document (93KB)

1st Annual Meeting - 21 March 07

‘Supporting People – Are we there yet?’

This was a historic event in Northern Ireland’s Supporting People circles in Belfast Central Mission’s Grosvenor House, Glengall Street, Belfast.  For the first time Supporting People service providers, the NI Housing Executive, other key stakeholders and service users were brought together in this joint NIFHA / CHNI event

The aim of the day was to allow organisations, both voluntary and statutory, to present their perspective on the reforms which have been ongoing in the supported housing sector since the introduction of Supporting People.  There were keynote speeches from a number of people:

Izzy Laing & Nuala Ferris Maginnis

Delegates had the opportunity of listening to comments from service users from two different supported housing schemes.  This provided a helpful reminder to all concerned about the reasons for the existence of Supporting People.

There were two lively question and answer sessions, one in the morning and the second in the afternoon. Delegates were encouraged to submit their questions to the panelists and a wide ranging selection of questions on topical Supporting People issues were raised, addressed and debated. It left those who attended with a lot of food for thought on the significant contribution Support People is making to our community and why it should continue to do so.
