Glenowen Court Wins Bronze at the EAC Housing for Older People Awards

Fold recently won the award for ‘Most Sustainable Build’ at the annual Action Renewables Association Awards on 15 March for its new family housing scheme in Ardglass, County Down.

A disused Police Station in Ardglass has now been successfully redeveloped to provide eleven new homes which have been designed to achieve an 'Excellent' Eco-Homes rating along with other tenant beneficial accreditations such as Lifetime Homes and Secure by Design.

The scheme boasts innovative environmentally friendly solutions and technology including:

To enhance the living environment we also retained existing trees and planted several semi-mature trees, creating a sense of ownership and place for the new tenants. To encourage local wildlife bat and bird boxes were provided and hedgerows and local flora and fauna were reinstated.

  1. Fold Housing Association has over 4,600 homes across Northern Ireland providing housing, care and support to families, single people, older people and people with complex needs.
  2. Fold designs and constructs all new homes to Code Level 4 and Secure by Design standards. The development team will commence around 400 new homes by the end of the financial year.
