New Year briefing to the SD Committee

Representatives from the Northern Ireland Federation of Housing Assocations (NIFHA) today briefed the Social Development Committee on the Federation's submission to the Independent Housing Commission.At the end of 2009 NIFHA submitted it's final response to the Commission on the Future for Housing in Northern Ireland. The Federation fully supports the purpose of the Commission on the Future for Housing and was pleased to offer a number of recommendations. They looked at the following themes:
- Promoting Social Inclusion and Enhance Individual life Chances
- Promoting Sustainable Communities
- Promoting Sustainable Homes
- Promoting the Status of Private and Social Renting
- Reforming Housing Taxation
- Reforming Organisational Roles and Structures
